ART IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Every installation begins with local relationships.
The Excelsior Art Initiative (EAI) pairs local artists with small businesses to bring creative installations into street-facing windows, walls, parklets, and other neighborhood spaces.
The work begins with conversation: what the business hopes to create, what the artist wants to explore, how the space is used, and how the partners will work together.
Art that meets people where they are
Storefront installations make art part of a walk to a café, a visit to a neighborhood shop, or a community celebration. Each project responds to its location and the people connected to it.
Preserving the archive
The original ArtSpan Art archive documents installations, artists, and partner businesses across multiple seasons. Visit it to explore individual projects and their stories.
From EAI to Creative Corridors
The experience of producing these collaborations informs ArtSpan’s mentorship and consultation for neighborhood organizations developing arts programs of their own.
