About AIN

ART IN NEIGHBORHOODS

Art belongs in everyday life.

ArtSpan’s Art-In-Neighborhoods (AIN) program connects local artists with businesses, storefronts, and community spaces across San Francisco. Exhibitions and public programs create opportunities to encounter art where people already gather.

What ArtSpan brings

A successful exhibition takes more than an available wall. ArtSpan brings curatorial planning, artist relationships, agreements, installation coordination, promotion, sales support, and exhibition management. Each partnership begins with the space, the people who use it, and what an arts program can contribute.

For artists

AIN creates opportunities to present original work, meet new audiences, and earn income. Artist compensation belongs in the project budget; visibility is an additional benefit. Eligibility, artist payments, sales terms, and responsibilities are defined for each opportunity.

For venues

Businesses and building owners can work with ArtSpan on a single exhibition or an ongoing program. Together, we establish a realistic scope, budget, timeline, and plan for caring for the work.

For neighborhoods

Local art gives people another reason to explore a corridor, step into a business, and connect with the artists and organizations shaping their neighborhood.
