Clare Kuo is an abstract artist exploring graphic design juxtaposed with East Asian aesthetics in her mixed media work. “I love merging different styles and media to create art that is unexpected and with surprises.” Originally from Taiwan, Clare considers San Francisco her second home because she loves how diverse our region is.
Clare’s organic process begins with sketching of graphic elements on her canvas and then filling in and layering them with paint and other media. “Using a limited color palette, create texture and composition by following a combination of mood, sudden inspirations, new explorations, and happy accidents.” Her goal is to create a fluid, abstract product using the core principles of design and hierarchy to add structure.
Clare is a studio artist at Arc Studios & Gallery and will be presenting her SF Open Studios on November 5 & 6, 2022.
